Mr Rashid M. Ibrahim, Chairman of the Board:
Mr Ibrahim was born in Lebanon in 1953. He was educated at the American University of Beirut where he graduated in 1975 with a degree in chemistry. He is a naturalised British citizen, married with one son and has lived and worked in London since 1992.
Mr Ibrahim started his career in Saudi Arabia working in administration and management in construction and drilling companies moving later to head a group of companies in general contracting.
In 1992, Rashid moved to London and joined Mohamad Ajami in setting up the Levant Group in London Levant is an investment company focused on the Oil & Gas sector and Mineral Resources in emerging markets in the CIS countries, Africa and the Middle East.
Mr Abdulkareem Al-Mutawa, Director:
Mr Al-Mutawa started his professional career with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, after his graduation in Economics & Political Science from Iowa University and Kuwait University.
Kuwait Fund is the first Governmental Agency in the Middle East that took an active role for the provision and administration of financial and technical assistance to developing countries. Mr Al-Mutawa held senior positions as a Senior Economist and Senior Advisor to the Director General.
After leaving the Kuwait Fund, Mr Al-Mutawa focused on his privately held and owned companies in the private sector; companies very active in Kuwait and the Middle East representing various international groups in the airline, airline services, construction, construction services and engineering, telecom, and technology industries.
Mr Al-Mutawa has always been in close relationship with the “Kharafi Group” where he holds a number of board positions such as at Al Mal Investment in Kuwait, MACsa in Tunisia, Kuwait Pipe & Oil Industries in Kuwait, Hail Real Estate Co in Saudi Arabia, Al Qebla Al Watya in Kuwait. He is also on the board of the Industrial Bank of Kuwait and Falcon Aviation in Switzerland.
Ms Kristina Stehling, Director:
Ms Stehling is the Managing Director of Crossing Borders Ltd., an advisory practice focusing on Asian markets in the telecommunications, renewable energy, oil and gas, and the infrastructure sectors.
Ms Stehling was the Executive Director and chief lobbyist for the Cable and Satellite Industry of Asia (CASBAA) from 1998-2000 and was responsible for opening markets for western broadcasters in Southeast Asia, China, Japan and India. From 1993-2000, she served as the chief lobbyist for responsible for securing contracts for BAA plc, Hughes Satellite Corporation and Hughes Network Systems, Lagardere Group and Lurssen Corporation in Asia.
She is currently representing renewable energy companies from Europe and providing strategic advice to European companies currently working to expand their business interest in Southeast Asia and China.
Prior to creating her own advisory practice, she worked as a senior producer for ABC News and NBC News from 1986-1994 and has lived and worked in the Philippines, Korea, the Middle East and New York. She is a graduate of the University of the Philippines in Political Science and Comparative English Literature and holds a Masters Degree in broadcast journalism from Columbia University. Ms Stehling speaks five languages and is an active member of the Asian Womens Mentoring Circle, a non profit organization that aims to raise the profile of Asian women entreprenuers worldwide.
Ms Tatiana Melkaia, Director:
Ms Melkaia has a career spanning international leadership roles in the travel sector with focus on the travel agency and airline business. In 1998 she moved to Oslo working for Air & Sea Transport AS to organise crew changes for shipping companies and helping to establish this company as a major international player. In 2002, Ms Melkaia received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Vlerick Business School, Belgium.
